Take A Fly Leap
I’ve thought a lot about what I want my first blog post to be about. I wanted it to be informational, profound, moving, impactful, and so much more. I single handedly, in my own mind, built up an immovable obstacle leaving me too scared to begin. Too many expectations that I felt I could NOT achieve. Like many accomplishments, I would never have earned them if I hadn’t just…hushed my negative narrative and started. I needed to have faith that all would work itself out. So let’s talk about that!
This website, my farm, my small goat milk body product business, and pretty much everything else worth having in my life were all accomplished by just shutting up and doing what I thought I couldn’t. Stepping out in faith is hard. It’s not uncommon for many people to have an overactive mind, much like my own, that can give you a million reasons why you’ll fail. When you’re busy convincing yourself that you’ll fail why even think about starting? “They’ll see you fail!” “They’ll say I told you so!” “They’ll think I’m nothing!” “I’ll feel unworthy!” Lies, lies, and more lies. All the verses of a song I sing to myself on a daily basis but I still shimmy this hot mess up to the edge and JUMP!
Falling short isn’t a failure, it’s a test. It’s nothing more than a practice run. We are rarely going to be that phenom of a specimen, that is perfect the very first time we do something. Practice makes perfect, as they say. A leap of Faith can land you on the other side of something or it can be a lesson that you need to jump further, higher, or faster. It’s only a failure when we take our end result as a final result and lay down whatever it is we desired to achieve and walk away from it. We must PRACTICE shutting up and doing what we think we can’t. We must PRACTICE acting on that Leap of Faith Moment.
Our first Leap of Faith doesn’t have to be a big one. It can be small. It can be inconsequential. The more we act on moving to do a small thing the easier it is for us to be ready when that big leap comes our way. It’s like this in almost all things. We must start somewhere and we can build up our courage and confidence overtime to be able to conquer our obstacles and to set an example for others to follow! It literally molds the path we’re on and who we invite to walk it with us.
It wasn’t long ago my daughter and I were talking about acts of Faith. Faith sometimes means being obedient when we feel like we’re being lead or directed to do something. It may be a small something. Something we think won’t matter if we don’t do it but the small things can lead to BIG Mountain Moving events in our or others lives. Our household operates and pulls our moral compass from living a Christian life derived from The Bible. So having faith and stepping out in faith is important even in our most unsure and scary moments.
The Lord often asks His Children to be obedient and to do what we’re directed to do, both for our own good and to serve and lift others. He asks us to operate in FAITH! If I can’t tell someone Jesus Loves Them when I’m lead to, I might not be equipped further down the line when God want’s me to witness or share my testimony with someone or an entire body of people. I may actually be hindering their walk by not stepping out and embracing the unknown. Leading by example is effective and I don’t want to fall short because I’m afraid to fail. The small leaps can result in BIG things. We just have to hush that negative narrative, that enemy in our ear, and do what we’re LEAD to do!
So I want to empower you today to take a flying leap into the unknown. I want you to try when you feel like you can’t. That resistance can be a test that’s the only thing between you and fulfillment, happiness, experiences unknown and awaiting accomplishments! It does not need to be a big leap. Take a small one, then another small one, then push that limit, then jump head long into and see what it does for you! At the very least it’s going to teach you so much about yourself and what IS POSSIBLE! Hush that “nay sayer” in your ear and shimmy up to the edge and LEAP!
